In the winter of 1998-1999 I was living in New York while my exhibition ‘Versions’ was showing at Ubu Gallery on 78th Street. I worked with Dikko Faust and Esther K Smith in their printery on Hudson Street in Tribeca on this book. We close six of my concrete poems, and Dikko looked amongst the many drawers of type for the best fonts to handset for his traditional press. The chosen folder paper size was six inches square (15 x 15 cm), with the six poems on six pages, so it made sense to produce 6 x 6 x 6 copies (256) – which meant a lot of printing and folding for Dikko and Esther!
